The Brief.

HQ2O Watersports, operated by Swan Leisure in partnership with Dublin City Council, is Dublin’s first urban watersports destination located on the River Liffey. Following the creation of its visual identity, HQ2O needed a website that would act as the central hub for its upcoming launch, presenting activities, programmes, and facilities while building awareness and engagement among locals, schools, and visitors.

The objective was to design a vibrant, accessible, and informative digital platform that:

  • Introduces HQ2O as Dublin’s home for water, wellness, and community.
  • Highlights future activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and open-water swimming.
  • Promotes educational and community programmes.
  • Reflects the centre’s sustainable and inclusive ethos.
  • Encourages sign-ups and engagement ahead of the 2026 opening.

The Approach

We designed the website as an inviting and easy-to-navigate platform,  a digital gateway to Dublin’s waterfront lifestyle.

  • User-focused navigation: The site architecture guides visitors through key sections: About HQ2O, Activities, Programmes, Our Facilities, Timeline, and Stay in the Loop, ensuring every audience can find what they need quickly.
  • Activities: Each water activity is presented with safety, inclusivity, and fun at its core, helping first-time paddlers or experienced adventurers connect with the Liffey.
  • Programmes & community: Dedicated pages highlight youth, school, and corporate programmes built around sustainability and wellbeing.
  • Visual & UX design: Inspired by the flow of the river, the interface uses HQ2O’s teal and sand tones, geometric waves, and modern typography to reflect both movement and calm.
  • Scalable foundations: Developed on WordPress, the site is mobile-first, accessible, and future-ready, designed to expand with booking, events, and multilingual content.
